Every year, the second Sunday in the month of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day. Moms are special and as we’ve said earlier, they need to be celebrated every day! But since we have a special day dedicated to them, let’s take a look at some of the brave and courageous mothers portrayed on ZEE5 Originals series. While Mentalhood is a family-drama series that covers the entirety of motherhood, Mission Over Mars (M.O.M) brings the message that nothing is impossible for a mom. The upcoming Kaali Season 2 revolves around a daredevil mother, premiering on May 29, 2020.

The series Kaali 2 revolves around Kaali (Paoli Dam), a helpless mother who becomes a victim of Kolkata’s dark underbelly in order to save her only son, Sunny. Kaali works in a beauty parlour and escapes gangsters, and the police to protect her son who is bound to a wheelchair after his accident. She goes to any extent, races against time and learns the art of survival by unleashing her fierce side.

Karishma Kapoor plays ‘mental mom’ Meira Sharma in the emotional-comedy series Mentalhood. She juggles between raising her three children (two sons and a daughter) and listening to other mothers’ problems. The ‘momzilla’ is Anuja Joshi aka AJo (Sandhya Mridul). The ‘workaholic mom’ Namrata Dalmia (Shilpa Shukla) manages her business and kitchen. Having a son, Diksha Shah (Shruti Seth) is the ‘boho mom’. And Preity Khosla (Tillotama Shome) is the ‘pushover mom’. Collectively, they are supermoms.

A mother, a scientist and a fighter, Moushumi Ghosh is the Project Manager of Mangalyaan – India’s first satellite to Mars. Essayed by Mona Singh, it is her idea to change the name of the project from ‘Mission to Mars’ to ‘Mission Over Mars (M.O.M)’. She juggles between her responsibilities at home and at ISA (Indian Space Academy). She is supported by Nandita Hariprasad (Sakshi Tanwar), who is the Program Director and also a mother.

Like every Indian mother, Karenjit Kaur (Sunny Leone) also has an over-concerned mother, Balwant Kaur Vohra (Grusha Kapoor). She is emotional and protective of her daughter as she enters into the ruthless entertainment industry. She reprimands her daughter while taking impulsive decisions but also stands as her tallest pillar of strength during times of difficulty and mental breakdown.

In the Hindi dubbed crime-thriller series Kannamoochi (Hide and Seek), actress Poorna plays the character of Priya. Soon after she moves into a new apartment, her five-year-old, hearing-impaired daughter, Aishu goes missing. While leaving no stone unturned to search for Aishu, she learns about a shocking incident that occurred in the house. She is even alleged to be psychologically unstable.
