In this premiere episode of the latest Zee Bangla TV serial Rani Rashmoni, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and Rani Rashmoni (played by Ditipriya Roy) continue to speak their minds about the rights of widows to Rajabahadur. They ask why, if a man is allowed to marry as man times as he wishes after his wife’s death, a woman should not be permitted to do the same if she chooses.

The king and his men sneer at such a question and pronounce men and women to be incomparable to each other. Vidyasagar asks Raghab what he thinks about the matter. Raghab says that if he has to get married, it will be to a widow! Rajabahadur then accuses Vidyasagar of rabble-rousing, and the Rani then says they will see if good shall actually prevail, or the king’s archaic beliefs. She says she is even prepared to fight the law in court if it comes to that. After Vidyasagar and the Rani leave, the king and his men plan to defeat them and their cause.

Elsewhere, Mathur Babu (played by Gourab Chatterjee) cannot stop thinking about the incident that he witnessed where the garland on Ma Bhabatarini’s idol flew over and settled around Gadadhar’s (played by Sourav Saha) neck! He wonders how it was even possible, and what supernatural element was at play to make it happen.
