1. Sabudana Thalipeeth By Sanjeev Kapoor

This year, Mahashivratri falls on 21 February 2020. The festival is celebrated annually in honour of Lord Shiva and it particularly marks the day of the consummation of the marriage of Shiv Ji. Mahashivratri fasting detoxifies the body and purifies the mind. Your body feels lighter and the mind’s restlessness is curtailed. To eat certain foods during your all-day-long fast, chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor (Khana Khazana)and Ranveer Brar (Health Bhi Taste Bhi)have some special Vrat Ka Khana recipes for you:

For Sabudana Thalipeeth, you need 1 cup of sabudana (sago), 2 boiled and grated potatoes, green chillies, coriander leaves, roasted peanuts, cumin seeds, ghee and salt. Knead the soaked sago by adding all the ingredients in it. Make it in the shape of thalipeeth and fry it on a pan with ghee. Your tasty fasting breakfast is ready!

2. Gehu Ki Khichdi By Sanjeev Kapoor

You need cracked wheat (daliya), split green gram (moong dal), cumin seeds, curry leaves, peppercorns, finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, french beans, carrots, green peas, turmeric powder and salt. Add all the ingredients to soaked daliya and moong dal and mix it well. Cook it for 15-20 minutes and your hot khichdi is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves!

3. Bhel Puri By Sanjeev Kapoor

For Bhel Puri, you need puffed rice (kurmura), sev, roasted masala chana dal, roasted peanuts, crisp puri, chopped onion, green coriander chutney, garlic and red chilli chutney, date and tamarind chutney, chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice and salt. Add all the ingredients one by one in a bowl and mix them very. Serve with sweet and spicy chutney. Your bhelpuri is ready!

4. Bhindi Raita By Sanjeev Kapoor

Mix yoghurt with salt, roasted cumin powder, chopped green chillies and roasted peanuts in a bowl. Add coriander leaves and grated coconut to it. Add ladyfingers (bhindi), cut into long strips and deep-fried in oil, to the yoghurt mixture. Delicious Bhindi Raita is ready to serve and enjoy!

5. Char Dal Ni Khichdi By Sanjeev Kapoor

For Char Dal Ni Khichdi, you need four types of dal – toovar dal, val ki dal, dhuli moong dal, masoor dal, rice, ghee, cloves, cinnamon sticks, black cardamoms, sliced onions, chopped ginger, turmeric powder and salt. Mix all the ingredients, add rice and the four dals to it with ghee. Add water, let it boil and cook till done. Sprinkle some ghee and serve hot!

6. Sprout Bhelpuri By Sanjeev Kapoor

Moong sprout, puffed rice (kurmura), 2 potatoes (boiled, peeled and diced), chopped raw mango, chopped onion, red chilli powder, chaat masala, chopped coriander leaves, sweet date and tamarind chutney, red chilli and garlic chutney, sev, paapdis and salt. Mix the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl with your hands. Top it with some more sprouts and serve immediately!

7. Red Rice Khichdi By Sanjeev Kapoor

You will need red rice, ghee, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, cinnamon stick, cloves, whole dry red chillies (broken), asafoetida (hing), curry leaves, green chillies, dhuli moong dal (soaked), potatoes, yoghurt and salt. Add red to all the ingredients roasted in ghee. Add water and let it boil. Then, garnish with chillies and serve hot!

8. Corn Flakes Bhel By Ranveer Brar

For Corn Flakes Bhel, you will need a chopped green apple, lemon juice, almonds, pomegranate seeds, cumin seeds, chaat masala, watermelon, mint leaves, tamarind paste, corn flakes, butter, banana, orange, and sugar. Mix all the ingredients and squeeze lemon juice in a bowl. Caramelize the banana and orange coated in sugar. Garnish it with mint leaves and your fruity corn flakes bhel is ready and yummy!
